너무 보고싶어 친구들.

It was a typical day for us—except that we had to go to school at 8AM to complete the required 50hour trainee program at one of the school’s offices. Hazel and I were asked to take photos as a group of Korean students who will be taking English classes for a month were arriving that day.

We stayed near the door and talked with their would-be teacher who happens to be our former teacher in expository writing. We asked her about the itinerary for that day while waiting for a welcoming program to start. Once in a while I looked at these foreign students, listened to them talking to each other, and it felt like I was watching a Korean drama.

I remember these two girls who asked if they could take a photo with us. We agreed of course, but in my mind I was like, “With us? Why with us? Really? Why?…” They were polite, seemed nice, smiling at you when they glanced your way.

Then came the tour of the school grounds and facilities. Well, technically, they had to go to the office of our school president and that’s on the top floor of the library building. This is where it really began.

We barely knew each other but these two girls? They waited for us when they could’ve joined their classmates in riding the elevator. At the school café, we weren’t supposed to eat with them, but they were the ones who insisted and thought it was okay that we join them. They even dragged chairs from the other table for us.

In just one month of stay, we’ve shared wonderful days, memories that I’ve written down in my journal. I haven’t forgotten about it(yet), but if something ever happens, like amnesia or anything close that would rattle my brain and drain my memory bank, I have something to remind me. 아, 그리고, 고마워요, for introducing us to 식혜(rice drink).

I miss you terribly. Do take care of yourself, okay? We’ll be seeing each other again someday, soon. Until then… 🙂

P.S. I still have the coins and the 1000won in my wallet. Thanks for the souvenirs!

P.S. II I almost forgot, oh dear. Yesterday was the birthday of my top girl crush, the ever pretty with cute dimples, Shin Min Ah. 생일 축하해요 신민아씨! 언니 파이팅! ♥
